“I’ve been doing t’ai chi for about two years, and I just recently started learning how to use the sword. There is some similarity to basic t’ai chi, but much more challenging as you have to do the movements holding the sword a specific way. It’s a lot of fun. The Saturday class I go to is quite large and it’s roughly half Chinese and half Australian. It’s all ages — we even have a 12 year-old in our class! There are also a couple of guys in their mid-thirties and a university student. On Sundays I spend an hour teaching t’ai chi to a small group of friends. We’re all a similar age and felt like we needed to do something to keep our bodies healthy.”
